Stan Waterman, President Emeritus

Stan's contributions to the Shark Research Institute and shark conservation broadly are truly renowned having served as President of our organization for 17 years (1993-2010).

A pioneering underwater film producer, photographer and author, Stan has been celebrated with five Emmy Awards. At the forefront of scuba diving since its inception, he has been inducted into the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame and was named a "Legend of the Sea" by Beneath The Sea in 2007. He has hosted SRI expeditions and dive tours to exotic destinations, bringing together a legacy of almost a half century in diving and film making.

Today, Stan writes and speaks to dive groups about the critical role of sharks in the marine ecosystem, and for the necessity of their protection.
