Dean Fessler, Education Director

Dean is a marine biologist and has been part of SRI since our founding in 1991. Through his career he has worked bull and Caribbean reef sharks in the Bahamas, sand tiger sharks in North Carolina, white sharks in South Africa, and led numerous expeditions studying hammerhead and whale sharks in the Sea of Cortez and Caribbean.

As Education Director of SRI for two decades, Dean has worked extensively with scientists from other institutions, underwater photographers, documentary filmmakers and the media. A long-time member of the famed Explorers Club he is a mentor to the Young Explorers.
