Explorers Club Event: The Arctic Ice is Melting.

People may argue about the cause, but no one denies that it is happening.As ice melts, the darker ocean that replaces it absorbs more of the sun’s rays, further accelerating the melting process. Can it be stopped? Can it be slowed down? According to Dr. Leslie Field, there is actually something that can be done about the melting Polar Ice Cap: Ice911 is an inexpensive, rapidly deployable, and proven way to slow the rate of Arctic Ice melt. It is an ecologically respectful solution that can be rapidly implemented and can be reversed once it is no longer needed. Developed by Dr. Field, a successful Silicon Valley entrepreneur who holds graduate degrees from UC Berkeley and MIT, and teaches “Engineering and Climate Change” at Stanford, Ice911 is an eco-engineered solution that uses floating materials that act like ice to reflect sunlight and slow the rate of ice melt.
