A massive squid left scars of its golf-ball size suction disks on the skin of a seven-foot oceanic whitetip shark (C. longimanus), although the species of cephalopod involved could not be determined. It is the first scientific evidence of a shark interacting with a large species of squid, which live at depths of more than a thousand feet.Telemetry shows the oceanic whitetip shark will dive within the mesopelagic zone, and may interact with or even forage on large cephalopods.
